Student Clinical Affiliation Program


Metro Physical and Aquatic Therapy offers several clinical affiliation/fieldwork options. Metro currently accepts graduate students from the following disciplines:

  • Physical Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Speech Language Pathology

Metro offers specialty affiliations by request, please check our speciality page to see what we can offer.

All students are eligible to attend any and all educational events held by Metro such as MD lectures, inservices, and other in house events


Prerequisites?

Before joining our Clinical Affiliation Program, students must complete prerequisite coursework required by their university and department. Students must have gained the theoretical knowledge necessary to understand the disabilities they will encounter. Clinical internships allow students to apply knowledge from the classroom and practice settings simultaneously while receiving guidance from their educational program faculty and Metro Clinical Instructors.

We accept all levels of Clinical Affiliation Students.


What can I expect?

  • As Student affiliating with Metro, you will be exposed to a wide variety of therapies including but not limited to:

    • General Orthopedics

    • Pelvic Floor

    • Neurological conditions

    • Chronic Pain

    • Cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions

    • Chronic disorders

    • Voice Disorders

    • Cognitive Communication

    • Aphasia & Dysphagia

    • Pediatric Feeding

    • Parkinson's (LSVT)

    • And More

    Your Clinical Instructor will guide you through a program designed to ensure that each student has a uniform experience, which will include Evaluation and Treatment of patients in your assigned clinic and completion of an in-service, as well as the opportunity to observe surgeries and attend lectures with nationally renowned orthopedic, hand, and other specialists.

    • Ability to attend all lectures including inservices by therapists and MD lectures.

    • Ability to shadow any one of our specialties.

    • Ability to attend any continuing education course held at Metro (fees from academic institutions may apply).

    • Ability to collaborate with other allied health professions to give patients a truly comprehensive treatment experience.
